Why is this case going to trial anyway?

DNA evidence has recently excluded an accused as a possible contributor in an alleged sexual assault.  There is also further evidence that the accusers may have fabricated a story about not having sexual relations between themselves. But, guess what? The case is still proceeding to trial as we speak.

Unfortunately, even when the most damning evidence has been removed from a case, the state can still proceed to trial. In many cases the state is counting on a conviction based on some other circumstantial evidence. A very good question in this case is, "what else does the state have on this guy." From the outside looking in, we will can't be sure at this point, but this is a perfect example of when you as an accused should keep your mouth shut and get a damn good criminal defense attorney.
